The Story:

Back in February when the uber talented make up artist Noor Ahmed (remember our stunning bride from last year) approached us with the idea of a fashion bridal shoot we jumped right in-no questions asked! Noor and Ema from Ema Suvajac Photography provided us with a brilliant concept as a starting point. We took it forward by assisting them with a design board, concept sketches and brought a brilliant team together consisting of CurlyGirl Flowers, Wedding Cake Shoppe (who magically brought our black cake obsession to life), Blair Naduea Millinery and Rosehill Venue Lounge who then worked their creative magic with incredible passion. The shoot was taken to perfection by the fabulous wardrobe stylist Amanda Coles from Styled Silhouettes  and Hair stylist Kathleen Sou along with our stunning model Ashlee D from Spot 6 !!

The Result:

A super awesome team and a shoot oozing with creative energy through each look and each shot! A big thank you to Elegant Wedding Magazine who gave us a two page spread in their summer issue and published the remaining photos on their blog.

Featured {Sash & Satin}: Tania & Kamran's City Chic Wedding

We are excited to share Tania & Kamran's "City Chic Wedding" featured in Sash and Satin.

The clean lines and minimalist decor of the stage were inspired by the modern venue and the city-chic feel we wanted to create in the ballroom. The centerpieces were accented with peacock feathers and consisted of ivory vintage roses and white hydrangeas. Turquoise was used as an accent colour throughout to complement the bride’s custom-made dress with touches of crystal and gold.

The groom is a huge soccer fan and the tables were named after FIFA soccer teams with the head table being the groom’s favourite team (Arsenal). The favours were candy bars with custom wrappers, designed to match the wedding invitations and printed with a special “recipe” for a perfect marriage on the back. White wine glasses filled with sand and with tea lights embedded inside added to the sparkle, texture and signature Sara Baig detail on each table. Mirrored chargers under each centerpiece, as well as a mirrored aisle down the length of each family table, completed the look along with gold chargers and rich chocolate brown linens. The overall effect was luxurious and detailed with clean lines and no fussiness. Prosad from Sitar Toronto serenaded the couple into the room and entertained guests throughout the evening with his unique fusion of trance and sitar.

Sweet Designs has arrived!

I received my copy of Sweet Designs by Amy Atlas last week and have been drooling over every page. Her work has always been an inspiration for me and her blog like a virtual mentor. And the fact that she has written this book with such honesty makes it so special and REAL. 

My favorite part is the introduction where she talks about family and kids accompanied by images of her two boys, her inspiration and her little helpers (see for yourself). A momprenuer myself, its always heartwarming to see how moms all over the world are "making it work" in their own creative way!

 Thank you Amy for this fabulous book & being an inspiration!

Michelle & Steve at The Fermenting Cellar

 The September sun, the brick lined streets and the Old Victorian industrial buildings of the Distillery District created the perfect backdrop for one of our favorite weddings late last year! We had the pleasure of being part of this gorgeous wedding at The Fermenting Cellar 

and working with some fabulous vendors!

Art Deco Glamour-The Original Wedding Soiree

 To us 1920's art deco was all about glamour, elegance and linear symmetry. We wanted to create a vignette that would reflect the essenceof that era through the dramatic use of black pearls & tophats, metallic candles, sequinced gold chivari chair backs. The stationary, cakelets, florals all came together to celebrate this extravagant 1920's luxury!
